The Hotel

October 13, 2015
Day 29  Saturday, October 2, 2015
This morning some of us decided to walk to the place where the locals  go to get their water. It is called the “hotel’; not sure of that designation, as there is no hotel there. A pretty interesting and again rather difficult walk, uphill, of course, on a narrow, rocky, rutted path. Young and old alike, with their water containers. It took us about 15 minutes to get there. There were a lot of people there, taking turns filling their water containers. An NGO Stone by Stone set up this purified water system for the people of Desab..thank goodness! The school has a safe water system which we use there. A couple of us tried carrying the bottles on our is so hard as they are so heavy, but the little kids get used to it at an early age. They must have very strong neck muscles and great sense of balance!!! After lunch, we headed out to the waterfall again. It is a difficult hike but I would not miss it. It took us about an hour to get there and the waterfall felt so cold and thundering down on your head. So cute to see all the children there. All but Fatima made the trip this time and we spent about an hour there before heading back. It was fun! Mike and Maddie had gone into Cabaret in the morningDSCF1557 DSCF1559 DSCF1561 DSCF1567 DSCF1568 DSCF1569 DSCF1571 and picked up a few groceries and made us a yummy supper..NOT rice and beans..YAY!!  The cook is off after breakfast on Saturday until lunch/supper on Sunday. We hung out and relaxed for the rest of the evening.

I cant believe what people do for water. We take it for granted for sure. What is that house in the last picture? Is that what people live in? Oh, and I like that shirt you have on!
