Road Trip to the Maritimes and Newfoundland

August 21, 2013

Once again I am so blessed to have Trevor travelling with me. We decided to take another end of summer road trip and he expressed a desire to visit eastern Canada and although I have been to these places many years ago, and actually lived in PEI, I said, “Sure, why not?” We left Tuesday noon, August 20th, right after his end of work staff meeting. Trevor works for the City of Ottawa and is a camp leader for the Tanglewood youth drop-in centre.

So, like Willy Nelson’s song says, we are “on the road again”.

A beautiful day with beautiful scenery, stopping eventually in Grand Falls, New Brunswick and finding a decent priced motel called Leo’s, then we headed out to the local Mcd’s for a late supper at 10:00 pm and hitting the sack soon after that.

The highways are wonderful  and the driving was so good I hated to stop and before I knew it I had let the gas get below empty and that was a little nervewracking and I have vowed to not let it go below the half from now on. When we pulled in to fill up, it was $1.39!!  Gas at home in Ottawa at $1.26 is looking pretty good!

We laughed at the name of one town we passed by. It is called Saint-Louis-du Ha!Ha! Not kidding!

TJ, my special teddy bear Trevor gave me, is travelling with us. I wonder what further adventures lie ahead on our 2 week getaway.

TJ is a cute bear and looks to be cut from the same cloth as Sarah’s “Baby”. Enjoy the time away and the beautiful scenery. I look forward to your snaps along the journey. Saint Louis du HA! HA! has a motto: Solidarity in work. A ha-ha is a turfed ditch with one sloped side, and one vertical side that is faced with a masonry retaining wall. An archaic French word for an unexpected obstacle or abruptly ending path is a ha-ha. Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha! is the only town in the world with two exclamation points in its name.
